Just a quick note to tell you that on Monday, I’ll be heading down to the Armory to start work as a Project Manager for Kink.com.

This is obviously an exciting opportunity and I’m very much looking forward to it, but it’s bittersweet. As with most opportunities, you have to leave some things behind in order to take the next step. In this case, it meant leaving the VideoBox blog to focus on Kink full time.

This blog has always been a hobby rather than a business and I’ll continue to post on an irregular basis about my experiences in the adult industry and my personal musings on porn in general. The fetish/BDSM side of the business is very new to me, so I’m sure I’ll have some adventures to share very soon.

Today is a very sad day indeed. Luke is Back is reporting that the woman with the most gorgeous breasts to ever grace pornography has decided to leave the business.

As I mentioned in September, Tera Patrick is divorcing her husband of 7 years. Coincidentally, she also just wrote a book called Sinner Takes All that’ll be out at the end of the month.

Some folks who aren’t me got advance copies and, as people often do with unreleased books, have started pulling out some of the juicier details in an attempt to sell more books. This is a good strategy. It often works.

In the book, Tera says that the reason she’s divorcing Evan Seinfeld/Spyder Jonez is that he chose making porn over an agreement they made when they got married to stop performing after a few years. From industry blog YNOT:

I feel for her. Basically, he wanted to keep fucking other women even though he told her he would stop doing that. For his part, Spyder told Page Six that the marriage ended because Tera didn’t like to have sex.

She didn’t like sex and he wanted to have sex with other women. Those seem like perfectly reasonable grounds to split up. In fact, I imagine people get divorced for very similar reasons all the time.

I guess the nicey nice things they were telling the media in September about how they’re still going to work together and be best friends forever weren’t really true. Go figure…

The beautiful and talented Katja Kassin announced her retirement on the Adult DVD Talk message board last night in an open letter to her fans.

Katja says that she is thankful for the opportunities that the porn industry has brought her, but she’s 30 and ready to pursue another career. While her ass will be missed by all, I wish her the best.

Janine Lindemulder appeared on Good Morning America today to discuss the custody battle she’s currently fighting with her ex-husband, Jesse James, over their 5-year-old daughter. (video here)

Although I’ve read a lot about the situation on other blogs, I’ve avoided talking about it until now because Janine’s side of the story wasn’t entirely clear. Now that she has gone on television to defend her desire to see her own daughter, I feel the need to add my own two cents to the discussion.

Fighting over custody after a divorce is always messy and often painful for everyone involved – especially the kids. On one side, there is Janine, recently released from prison, newly married to a man of questionable character, and biological mother of this child. On the other is Jesse James and, for some reason, Sandra Bullock.

Yes, I realize that Sandra is Jesse’s wife, but as a stepmother myself, I feel it’s at best in poor taste and at worst downright wrong for her to get involved in this type of custody dispute. I assume that Sandra loves her stepdaughter tremendously, but it’s simply not her place to write and then publicly release letters to the court accusing Janine of drug abuse, neglect, or anything else, for that matter.

If her ex-husband wants to fight for sole custody, great. Goodness knows that Janine isn’t going to be winning any Mother of the Year awards. But that’s between them.

In the end, Jesse and Sandra have money and Janine doesn’t. They’ll probably get custody of her daughter, and maybe that’s in the girl’s best interest. But it leaves a seriously bad taste in my mouth to watch Janine beg Sandra Bullock for her child back on national television. This is a private matter, and for the child’s sake, it really ought to be kept that way.

A recent post on Luke is Back revealed that Janine Lindemulder recently got hitched. There was some debate at first on a couple of blogs about who the lucky groom (or trans-bride?) could be, but the question was settled on Sunday when it was announced that the new Mr. Lindemulder is an ex-con who goes by the nickname Lefty. As it turns out, Lefty is alleged to be a white supremacist.

I’ve been hearing rumors for a while that Tera Patrick and her husband, Evan Seinfeld/Spyder Jonez were splitting up. Over the weekend, Cindi at Luke is Back seemed sad to confirm the news.

I, on the other hand, couldn’t be happier for Tera. Over the years, I’ve had several interactions with Evan Seinfeld and I don’t look back on any of them with fondness. The guy is the dictionary definition of “douchebag” and I was always perplexed by what Tera saw in him. Especially after an encounter about a year ago when I was trapped in a limo with him and treated to endless bragging about his new website (called Rockstar Pimp, of all douchey things) where he gets to fuck all these hot chicks and how much everyone wants to see that. I assume he meant everyone except people with eyes.

From where I’m sitting, Evan used Tera for a variety of reasons: money, access to porn pussy, an overblown sense of self-importance, etc. and I’m really pleased to hear that she’s moved out of their house and hopefully on with her life.

As the MPAA is to the NC-17 rating, the ESRB is to a little-known rating called Adults Only (or AO). The rating is almost never used for a number of reasons, all of which having to do with companies being afraid to get near sexual content with a 10 foot pole (gratuitous violence, on the other hand, remains perfectly acceptable). Retailers won’t carry the games (Wal-Mart and Best Buy have policies against them) and console manufacturers like Nintendo, Microsoft, and Sony won’t allow AO games onto their systems.

Enter the Silicon Xtal Corporation. They’ve registered the name SexBox in the US with the intention of creating a “video gaming console comprised of computer hardware with unique controls which plays Adult Only rated (AO) video game software titles.”

Nothing else about the company or the product is really known, but the concept itself seems fatally flawed to me for two reasons:

1) People do not want to buy expensive porn-specific hardware (see also: FyreTV)
2) No one has figured out how to make a pornographic game that doesn’t suck really bad

You name the crappy sex-themed video game, I’ve played it. From Leisure Suit Larry to Sextris to Red Light Center to the wide variety of shitty Flash-based games floating around the interwebs these days. They’re all terrible. Maybe the people who are good at making games are busy doing it for money, or perhaps it’s because the characters of any halfway playable game are located squarely in the uncanny valley, but I’ve never seen a sex video game that was hot or fun.

Much like chocolate and pickles or polyester and fire, I think porn and video games are really best left separate pleasures.

Battery Charge Against Stormy Daniels Dropped
The battery charge that resulted from her July 25th arrest for hitting her husband in the head with her fists during an argument has been dropped by Florida prosecutors. According to the prosecutor’s office, it was not clear enough who was the aggressor in the violence and her husband waived prosecution. The effect the incident will have on her quest for a Senate seat is not yet clear.
